Hidden Slovenia - lesson #2 - Wisdom of the Animals - Sagesses animales

I planned to write this post a while ago. Then the terrible events that happened to Milwyn and us a month ago postponed the publication. For those who didn’t hear or read about it, here's the link to FB page. It actually gives a new and more profound dimension to the things I wanted to share.

Since my early childhood, I’ve always been surrounded by dogs, cats, chicken, goats, and other farm animals. My natural relationship to them evolved over the years. And the more I spend time with them the more I understand them and their perspective of life. The month in Slovenia and Italy made this understanding rise to an even higher level. Sometimes I’ve learnt the hard way... some things or events happening to animals because of mankind are extremely hard for me to accept or understand... and animals’ wisdom and kindness keep on amazing me.

So here are the teachings from my four-legged (and now tripawd) friends:

  • Enjoy the present moment.
  • Be playful and joyful.
  • Rest when you need it. And never mind what the others think of you having a break now.
  • Take good care of yourself. Otherwise you are of no good to yourself or your tribe, you will be a burden to your pack and can even endangered it.
  • Be yourself. Stay authentic. We all have a role to play, something we are especially good at. Don’t try to take on a role that isn’t yours.
  • Trust your instinct.
  • Generosity.
  • Resilience. Astonishing resources and ability to bounce back.
  • No overthinking that get you unnecessarily stuck and unhappy.
  • Unshakable trust and loyalty.Trust me, I trust you.
  • Unconditional love.

Well, I am really glad that they never get tired and keep reminding me these lessons every single day. Because as a human, I too easily tend to slip, forget and get back to my usual way of thinking and acting. Yeap yeap, I’m far from being as wise as them! 😉
